My boss wants to take his child hunting this weekend, they live in GA. The child is 11, and has no hunters safety yet, although a very experienced young hunter already. As I understand it, he would need the Apprentice license, but not sure what else. Also, does his father have to be licensed in TN?

Thanks

The young man can meet the hunter safety requirements with the Apprentice License. It requires him to be accompanied by an adult 21 or older who meets the hunter education requirements and who remains in positon to take immediate control of his hunting weapon. If you boss is going to be that adult, he does not have to be licensed if he doesn't participate in the hunt in any way beyond taking control of the weapon in an emergency situation. That means he can't carry the gun, blind, etc. The adult does have to meet the hunter education requirements.

At age 11, the youth is not required to have a license. However, he is required to have a Type 94 permit if he intends to take an antlerless deer this weekend on the Special Season Antlerless hunts.
