I bet the crowds will be massive.

The NMLRA is grasping at straws. The membership is dwindling and the powers that be are desperately seeking fresh blood. IMHO it won't work. It's sad because I'm a member and have been attending regularly the matches for 40 years.

Wobblyshot1: I actually give them credit for hosting the in-line matches - do you know of anyone else hosting such a modern ML match?

I think this is the 4th year and the match also appears in the June/September program as an NRA sponsored match. I've shot it along with my boys and we had a lot of fun shooting our hunting rifles - challenging match for sure, especially the silhouettes out to 330yards - now another match to 500.
There seems to be quite a few accurate in-line ML shooters on this site, someone may have an interest.

I sure do know of another inline event. He has two, one spring and one in the fall. This year he added a "Polar Bear" event. The spring and fall events have around 25 shooters and more than that in spectators. All ML rifles are welcome including smokeless builds.

Its called the Kentucky Challenge. http://hanksmessageboard.freeforums.net ... ge-success

GM54 -that is good as we need more shooting events..
I know of 2 local E. TN organizations (gun clubs) that have hosted ML matches since the NMLRA started - following the similar format.

I heard of one in Arizona or New Mexico too but im not sure if it was a NMLRA sanctioned event. Justin from Knight won IIRC shooting a Mountaineer and the new CEB 240gr bullet in sabots. I believe it was just targets and no silhouettes.

We have a range locally that offers matches but i dont think ive heard of any ML events. I know they have the distance needed and im pretty sure they have the silhouettes too. I would certainly attend one as a spectator if they had one. I get a kick out of ringing some steel.

I just found this. They do BPCR events with silhouettes. I would love it if the NMLRA had a inline event here.

Nice looking range.
You need to host a ML match and see what happens...
NMLRA hosts an annual Western shoot in AZ.

To start, Friday was the worst weather I've ever shot in. Cold, rain and wind - everything was wet by the end of the day!
12 shooters braced the weather, why do we do the things we do?

As for the match, it was GREAT, just as designed to test the shooter, rifle and load. We all learned some things...which is good.
5 shots for score at each distance 100-500 yards with no sighters...

The worst weather was when we were shooting 200 & 300. I had to stop to clean off my glasses as the rain was blowing in so bad. Took a photo as nearly everyone/everything was wet.

To start off at 100, Bob Wetzler (match director) was shooting a 650gr conical out of a of Knight 50 1:24.

At 200 (same target as 100), Doug Swartz posted the top score, but this was also the worst time and there were cross fires, etc.. (even some who put in the wrong setting? ha).
Here is Doug in his rain gear...

At 300, we used the 200 yard red bull.

The rain seemed to yield as the afternoon went along, but the wind didn't. I would say it blew 5-20mph all day.
400 yard winning target.

If you're wondering how we score, we actually turned the targets over and placed a shoot-n-see. This has been done by the slug gun LR matches for years, the reason is - you can see the bullet holes otherwise they get lost in the numbers, lines, etc.

At 500, Jason Day came back to life and posted the top score.
Sorry, didn't get a photo of target.

In the end, like with any match -it's consistency that pays off. We all talked (Saturday) about our missed opportunities - that just made us want to shoot it again..
Congrats to Doug, but it was very close.. 2 points separated 1-3rd place.
1st was Doug Swartz
2nd Jeff Fisk
3rd Rick Weber

The final score sheet.

Guaranteed, we'll all be back to shoot this one..

5th year for the In-line Hunter match. 1st year for M5. The weather was better on Saturday (no rain), but the wind was probably more intense. No doubt the weather and weekend forecast kept some from participating. A little different match and distances, plus silhouettes at 200 & 300 meters.
Here are the results are there are 2 classes..

Ah yes! Springtime at Friendship, more times than not, it means cold, breezy, rain, flood and mud. I remember the days when the spring national shoot always seemed to have conditions like that. It's one reason they moved it to June with usually much nicer weather.

Interesting post. It looks like BH209 was the preferred propellant. I was a little surprised to see some using real black powder(Swiss) and that the close third place finish was from an individual using it.
