Does anyone have one or shot with one. I'm looking at the 4.5-14x. I'm wondering how it will stack up against some of the other scopes in it's price range.

I have not had the opportunity with that one but i do have the 3x9x40 buckmasters and i can tell you it is an awesome piece and compares better than most for that 219 dollar price range! I am planning on purchasing another for a new 270 wsm in the Winchester SS extreme weather.

I just wanted to be sure it wasn't a "pro-staff" scope with camo.

Also how much good is 14x with a 40mm objective lens. Will this bring in enough light at full magnification, or should I save the $$ and get the 3-9x40. ??

I have a Nikon Buckmaster and for 200.00 I am well pleased with the scope, but considering the price of the Coyote Special. I would either spend a little more and get a Nikon Monarch or Cabelas has a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 on sale for 399.00.

What are you going to use it for. If for calling coyotes, I would want to go lower that 4.5. I have called them to gun barrel and when 3 wasn't low enough. Also, 14x east of the mississippi is pretty much useless.

Coyote and target. the 14x would be more for fun at the range. I've been in a few situations where 14x could be used. Necessary no, but we have some long shots availible if we want to take them. as for being too much for getting them close, I usually hunt with my bro in law. we take turns on the shot gun and rifle.

Big orange I do like the look of the zeiss. How does it stack up against the leupolds in that price range?

The Zeiss is optically superior, has etched reticles whereas the Leupold doesn't, and consistant eye relief throughout the power range.

Cons for the Zeiss vs Leupold. The Zeiss is a little heavier, has a larger ocular, and is larger than the Leupold.

Warranty... Basically the same.

Both are good scopes and can't go wrong with one or the other. I'll take the Zeiss all day long.

Bob, I agree with Model70Man on this. He is right on!

I ended up with a leupold vx-II 3-9x40 with LR recticles (two mil dots for bullet drop compensation)$359.

The zeiss conquest $399 was my first pick after comparing the two, but that scope only had plain ole duplex recticles. But it seemed to be brighter and have a wider range of view.

I also looked at the Nikon monarch in 2.5-10x44 $399. Compared to the two above it was darker, less eye relief, and the recticles didn't "pop" as much as the others. but a nice scope.

Never even got to look at the Coyote special, but after seeing the monarch I concluded that the yote special would probly not stack up to high against the zeiss and the leupold.

I'm a happy camper. Only got to shoot @50yds with it this weekend, but it'll be close when I get to the range.

I guess I will have to get another Conquest if they are on sale for 399,,it is without doubt the best 400 dollars you will ever spend for deer hunting,,

fact

reg price new now

u can get demos for 369

Congrats on your new scope. I'm sure it will do everything you want it to do and then some.

Yep! $369 is the way to go. You can't tell the difference between a Demo and a new one. It also comes with a full warranty to boot. If you have any problems, sent it to Doug and he will take care of everything for you. All you have to do is pay shipping to him.

I have found that if you have your scope zeroed at 100 yds with the Z-plex reticle, the top of the bottom post is dead on at 300 with my 308's.
