Set up on one of my favorite early season spots this morning near some white oaks. This spot has produced many times for me over the past 12 years. Sure enough about 9 am 4 does and a button showed up and started munching about 30 yards away. I waited until the biggest doe gave me a clear shot and let one fly. Made a decent shot and she piled up in the woods about 60 yards away. Love a good short tracking job.

Switched to a crossbow this year after 40 years with a compound and recurve. My vision won't let me see the deer and pins clear at the same time with my compound. Scope on the crossbow solved the problem. Yes it's easier and for me not as fun but I'm warming up to it. So this is my first.

Congratulations. I got my first with a crossbow today also.

Congrats on the doe!

It is a bit easier, but the scopes are good as our eyes get worse. It is no easier to get deer within 30 yds though, so it didn't take me long to warm up to it. You will end up enjoying it as much as compound bow hunting as your adrenaline will get up when deer are in on you real close.

Thanks and I certainly hope you are right. It may take awhile but hopefully I will get there. It certainly is a million times better than not being able to hunt. :tu:

Exactly, to me that last sentence is all the reason I needed.

Re: Nice doe this morning

Congrats. I suspect I am not far behind you on having to move from a compound to crossbow because of my vision.
