2 years ago I bought a older Savage 110 L/A in 30/06 for $200...hunted with it for a year and honestly did not like it much...ought6 in a Savage tupperware stock is pretty brutal in the recoil department...so got me a .243 Barrel, 10/110 22/250 through .308 bolt head and Long action to Short action baffle and built me a very sweet shooting .243 deer rifle this is the point I named the rig "frankenrifle"....well deer season ended and I got bored again and with a little help of my good friend, ~ACE~, I found a "pulloff" barrel from a Savage 10 FCP-K w/factory brake. So now...well....Pics and specs below

The day after I bought it and painted it green...plastic stock were pretty beat up

Savage Shooters Supply (SSS) Tactical Bolt Handle

1st Group after 100 yard zero/sight in

Last 5 shot group of the day...since I sold all of my .308 loading supplies I was shooting UltraMax Factory Remanufactured ammo 168gr Sierra HPBT (or at least that what is advertised)MV 2680 stuck in Lake City brass....was surprised by the consistency

I have a place to get to about 500 yards....but in the next few weeks I really want to run it to 1000 yards....althought that may need to wait til I get Dies, Bullets & Brass...really wanting to run 178gr Hornady AMAX or 178gr Hornady HPBT

Nice looking rig. Why did you need to change the bolt? Case head dimensions are the same...was it to make the shorter 308 work in a long action?

Yes case heads are the same, .473, however in the case the orginal caliber when I bought it was 30-06...so when I change it and rebarreled it to .243 I used the same bolt head and just got the longer bolt baffle (bolt stop) to convert LA to SA....and got , for somebody I don't remember, a old model internal magizine for a LA that had already been modified for a SA caliber. When I rebarreled to the .308 I just bought a new bolt head and baffle just so it would be new...the old one had a ton of rounds through it...it's now in the stock pack as backup parts.
