My parents retired last summer and brought me, my brother, and some extended family out to a 60 acre homestead in McMinnville. I was a music teacher in Dallas until landlords and investors made it too expensive for us to live there.
I have some part time teaching work, but am working hard to find some ways to monetize the land. I have a mushroom patch started in February, with a melon patch in the works, and about 80 pepper plants that just got up-potted into grow bags. Lumber is being harvested by our creek out back, and I also do woodworking/turn pens on my lathe.
We would be interested in trading access to cattle grazing land for some beef. I make excellent BBQ, and hope to market some BBQ rubs and hot sauces out of all the smoked chile and mushroom powder in my near future.
