Got 700 bucks to drop at basspro...looks like a tradition or cva are my choices there...go with accura v2 or Vortek strike fire? Appears most people are changing to smokeless but I think my options are limited at basspro. ..thanks for any advice

IMO

maybe sell gift card for like 650

take cash

buy a savage smokless from Whitaker guns

or

if BP sells handi rifles buy a 45/70 have it converted to smokless
or get a tc 45/70 convert it

or cva apex 45/70 convert it

you can have it converted for like 100 plus 40 for breech plug

I love my new CVA and have heard very good things about the optima and accuras. You should be able to get a good package deal- camoed with stainless or blued barrel, scope (or at least the heavy duty rings), sling, and a soft case. They come with the quick release breach plug which is nice. Great quality and life time warranty. Good luck! If basspro is like cabelas even with the full package you should still have plenty left over for powder primers and bullets :-)

Bass pro in nashville has the tc triumph around 550 i think but not sure. I shoot a cva optima and its a great gun but I LOVE the way the triumph feels. Been thinking about selling the cva and buying one.

Find a use Knight LK93 and save your money. Best muzzleloader ever made.

not a fan of knight rifles.
me either got LK93 SITTING IN THE CLOSET JUST SEEING HOW IT WILL TAKE FOR THE RUST TO SEAL UP THE BARREL

Used Knight since 1996. Bought a T/C Omega Z5 in December 2011. Wasn't impressed. Sold it in 2012 and kept on using my LK93. Most people I know still hunt with one, they've just converted them over to 209 primers.

I don't know anybody still hunting with a knight. they've all gone to t/c or cva. had my t/c thunderhawk since the early 90's and still shooting #11 caps.

They do. I got my Triumph from Cabelas this year but remember holding one in my hands at BP while I was trying to narrow my choices.

Great advice, Smokeless is the only way to fly for a new MZ, you wont be disappointed!!

I like DA's idea. I have a lower end traditions buckstalker and like it but I would love to have a smokeless.

The T/C Thunderhawk is a very underrated gun. I've never heard a bad thing about them. But hard to find nowadays.

for several years, I thought I would buy a new muzzleloader but then I thought "why?". this thing drives tacks and has killed everything I have ever dropped the hammer on. shoots every time. my only complaint is it don't have a removable breech plug.

Other than myself, My Uncle, His son and 2 Grandson's, Buddy of mine at work has 2, One a .45 Cal, his wife uses and a .50 Cal he uses. A buddy of mine that owns a Deer mineral Co. uses one, I sold an extra stock to a member on this forum who broke his. Just off the top of my head, that's 8 other people that still Hunt with a Knight, either an MK85 or LK93 respectfully. Different strokes for different folks but, It's always been a good gun for me and I personally like it. If someone was to ask me what muzzleloader to buy. I'd recommend a Knight.

I'm with you Stik, I like your Quote "Why?" I found an unreal buy on a T/C Omega Z5 on clearence and thought why not. But when my wife was about to have our twins, I sold off any guns I didn't need. I got down to keeping my Remington 700 ADL 30-06, My Knight LK93, My Mossberg 12 guage pump, My Savage Mark II .22 (with Walnut stock) and my 10 point crossbow. I sold everything else. I would've like to of kept both, but That gun shoots so well and brought me Deer nearly every year on Muzzleloader season. BTW, I'm not knocking anyone else's gun. I just happen to favor mine.

nor am I. YOU should shoot what YOU prefer. one good point for the knight is it is now a Tennessee product.

The guy I sold my T/C to still has it but hasn't shot it. In a couple of months I may see if he wants to get his money back. One thing everyone can agree on.....You can't have enough guns :) Happy New Years to you and your family Stik.

I started with an American Knight and still have it but hadn't shot it in years.

My dad has a Knight Wolverine II camo stainless that i've tried to buy from him forever but he wont sell it. And i guess they didn't sell long because i cant find one anywhere. It feels and shoot alot better than the lk 93's. Like you said i know very few who hunt with Knights anymore but always had good luck with them.

I hunt with a Knight Mountaineer. Great rifle.

At the risk of asking a stupid question...

Have you gone up to the guys at the gun counter and had them show you what they can order for you? I assume that you haven't just looked at what's on the shelf, but I wanted to make sure that you had at least checked their online catalog of options.

skim across www.gunbroker.com and see what sort of prices you can find for the types of muzzleloaders you are looking for. Sometimes you can get some really good deals on there. Just factor in the shipping and FFL fees for wherever you send your gun.
