need help positive ID on ammo

a person contacted me with a box of ammo they wanted to get rid of instead of packing to move,,it looks like 8x57 Mauser to me but IDK for sure,,Yugo markings and the bullets mic .323 and weigh 198.2 grs,,
40 unopened boxes with three five round stripper clips per box,,and 12 more loose clips,,600 rounds in the box and 60 more on 5 round clips loose,

best I can tell it is 198 gr 8x57 Yugo ammo made in 1953,,anybody shoot this stuff that can confirm what it is and a price it would have been worth before the craziness,,

it looks a lot like this but the one bullet I pulled weighed 198 and this is listed as 196 ??

Yep, it's Yugo 8x57 heavy ball. Good shooting stuff. It is corrosive, so you must clean thoroughly after shooting. There will be a few grains range in bullet weight from one to the next, powder too.

I still have a few cases I got for $79/900 round tin, but that was 8 or 10 years ago. I couldn't tell you what it was going for recently, but I'm sure it was more than I paid for mine.

OK I dont know if I need to sell ammo or buy a rifle,,I could take way less than what they are asking

By all means get you a rifle and shoot it. You can still find a good Turkish Mauser for less than $150 or a Yugo for around $250. Heck, if you are close to Jackson for a FTF I will sell you one cheap.

powder is 44.4 grs of some big flake looking stuff,,non reloadable brass,,
