I've decided to buy a savage ML. Picked up a stainless/laminated today and seemed kind of heavy, then handled a synthetic stock that seemed OK. Would there be any advantage with the stainless/lam over the blue/synth model other than being better in bad weather? I have two stainless Ml's and one blue but since its smokeless thought the blue might be OK. Any suggestions appreciated...

I personally would choose the synthetic simply because it is lighter. The Savage is a heavier gun anyway due to the heavier steel used in the barrels to accomodate the higher pressures involved. The laminate looks better for sure and I have one of each but as for accuracy it does not seem it have any effect. As for blue or stainless only a cosmedic thang IMO, they both shoot well.

Good Luck

heavy might be a good thing when you start pushing some loads this gun is capable of  n120 kicks like a government mule!!!

I bought the synthetic stainless a few years back and now wish I had bought the laminated. I wouldn't mind the extra weight and would feel better about doing some bedding work.
