Need advice on reel

I had a basal cell cancer removed from my neck with about a 3" inch incision about 2 months ago. The plastic surgeon that did it loves to fish for smallmouth. He only took what insurance paid which was FAR too little in my opinion, so I would like to buy him a reel to say thanks....

Got any suggestions as I am only a fly guy and don't know shinola about open face reels.

stradic ci4 {$200} or the quantum energy {$169} i've owned both and liked them both.i'd get the 2500 size in the stradic & the 20 size energy.

The Revo is a nice reel, but I would have to go the Shimano Curado route. Either would be a good choice. If you go with a spinning reel, I would buy one of the top end Shimanos.
