I'm wanting to put plot in the woods on logging road or open area on my property. I have no equipment only hand tools rake etc!! I was thinking Whitetail Institute NO PLOW. Any advice on step by step would be great. Thanks y'all.

Logging roads are tough. Not much sun and then when the leaves fall it smothers out whatever you have planted. I would just do clover. Clear the area of leaves and right before a rain just spread it on the ground. That's about as simple as you can get.

There are Youtube tutorials. Rakes, hoes and other hand implements work just fine. Spray the area with weed killer now, come back in late august and rake the soil. Spread throw-and-grow and in November you have Ladyno, red clover, Australian winter peas. Easy kill plot. :)

I've put small woodland plots in. I bought a tiller just for that purpose. Otherwise rake clean and throw your seeds. Try to find existing openings in the canopy or your plants will get shaded out and won't do much.

We did the same thing one year on a logging road. Took a rake and a bag of throwin go and it came up nicely. Deer used the heck out of it too. It's even worked in a dry ol powerline.

If you can find a part of the road that runs North-South, it will get more sun and grow better. You'll get pretty good results until the leave start to fall then they'll kill out most all of it. If you are wanting to hunt over it for bow season then that won't be a problem.
