Ok I was wading in the Caney this weekend and catching a few trout and I looked down and saw a fish shape about two foot long. Asked my boy to come see it and he looked and said what is that. I said bump it with your foot and it shot outta there like a rocket. Now the weird thing is that out wasn't swimming before we touched it. Just laying in the current about 3 feet deep. It was a lighter color than the bottom. Only 4 fish come to mind that it could be and these are carp, buffalo, sucker, or sturgeon. Very sure it was not a big brown. What do y'all think it could have been in that particular river?

No, not a gar. This thing was shaped like a torped and probably weighed 6 lbs. It was not swimming just setting on the bottom. We were about 300 yards from the dam and being N overcast day plus the ripples on surface made it impossible for a real quality identity guess for me. Honestly I thought it might have been a log shaped like a fish then it occurred maybe its a dead fish. Nope. Left out like a scalded dog.

If it was indeed a sturgeon I would love to catch one. I know C&R only but still would love to catch one. Not a fly eater I would suppose. Gonna have to get the cut bait out. lol
