The last fish I caught at Dale was this slick head that wanted my slash bait. That was about seven years ago. I haven't fished there since I got sick.

I would have liked for the last one to be a smalmmouth but that was just as I was starting to get sick and I couldn't fish long and couldn't convince the guy running the boat to get the heck out of 3 feet of water and go to a hump that came up to six feet and was surrounded by 30 foot water.

Dang buzzard fishermen!

I truly doubt I could find that hump todaybut man we caught some huge brown fish off it when we had a west or north wind and cloudy skies. I have also caught some gagger crappie off it in dead summer. It was one of Westmoreland's go-to spots and I wasn't supposed to know about it. he just wasn't sneaky enough :)

A word on sneaky Billy. We put in one morning at Cedar and had just cleared the no wake zone and here comes BW. We shut down and just watched where he was going. Justr coming daylight. Well, he must have seen us.

Sneaky suckers put-puts up to the dam and starts trout fishing.

I learned how to shorten rods to improve their "feel" for the flies and other light lures by looking at his. Most of my smallmouth rods have 4-6 inches broken off at the tip. I have never been able to get one made exactly like I want. My buzzbait rods also tend to be shortened. My fluke rods are always 6" shorter than I like but my topwater rods are just perfect.
