How do you read the wind on long rang shooting. If on the rang I try to use flags but out in the hunting I try to find something between me and the target. Is this about what you do?
The greatest thing about P-dog shooting is every shot id different. One year I was shooting them with a 22 mag at 200 yds. with a 20mph wind now that was fun but you are right most of our shots are out there at 500 plus.remke said:I'm not a great shooter like Mr. Big, but out west shooting prairie dogs, a 100 yard shoot is very close. I have had several hits around 500 and 600 yards. I use the grass way out there. But out there the wind is like 20 mph all day, witch is a steady thing and its not that bad.
good luck
not for meDeer Assassin said:prairie dogs with a 12 gauge is fun too
If you have never done it you should, It is the greatest thing a man my age can do with his pants on or off.mr.big said:shooting pd`s to me would be different,,if you miss judge the wind at 500 you will be tracking a wounded deer,,with pd`s you can spot your miss and adjust and shoot again,,

I have shot several with the 300 RUM at 150 yards, and closer.Deer Assassin said:prairie dogs with a 12 gauge is fun too
You would love it Mr. Big, the only problem you would have is bringing enough ammo for all the guns you would want to take. :grin:mr.big said:shooting pd`s to me would be different,,if you miss judge the wind at 500 you will be tracking a wounded deer,,with pd`s you can spot your miss and adjust and shoot again,,
