If you are in the market for a new mouth call, do yourself a favor and pick up one from Hook's Custom Calls. I've used about every mouth call on the market and these are hands down the best. Very easy to use and requires very little air to operate the call. Not to mention they are only $6 a call.

The Executioner 2 and Game Changer 3 are top shelf and will be in my vest this spring.

Re: Mouth Calls

Yes hooks are great but be aware they are more narrow then most out there which can be good and bad. They are a tad small for me but last I talked to the guys they sent me some with extra tape on them so I could blow them better. Great dudes for sure

Re: Mouth Calls

Listen'here...I've heard just about enough chatter from you gents for these danged Hooks mouth calls!!! So much so...I'm gonna finally try one. :)

Legacy out of South Carolina use to make a killer small framed triple stack that was pure poison. I can't find it anymore and don't know it'd they still do but years of good solid reputable references for Hooks has me ready to try one out.

Re: Mouth Calls

There are a bunch of great calls mouth calls out there and I suggest you try as many as you can. When you find the one buy a few of them!

I also highly recommend Rush Calls. Chad makes a very very good call and is even a finer guy to talk with. Just give him a call and talk turkey and you will see what I mean. He hand makes each one and is one of the best callers I personally have ever heard. Call and just talk to him about calls and what not

Chad 502-376-2132. Just tell him Jaymie gave you his info.

Just fyi I have no affiliation with Chad just got to know him through hunting and is just someone that is a pleasure to just call and talk callin and hunting with, he just happens to make a very good mouth call as well

Here is his site

Mouth Calls

Well I have everything else in mouth calls so I just ordered David Hallorans 3 pack of mouth calls. Much better price than the Woodhaven Red Wasp I like so much. I don't even carry anything but diaphragm calls.

Re: Mouth Calls

The more I use Halloran's TKO the more I like it. The TKO is as easy to use as Hook's, although I did trim the tape on the TKO to better fit my mouth.

Re: Mouth Calls

Well I hope you guys wouldn't lie to me.. I just order 4 hooks diaphrams. I got the champion series...
That automatically makes you a good caller right?

Of course!

Re: Mouth Calls

I bit on some of the Hooks calls today as well. I don't use a diaphram as much as I used to, but still need one in just in case. Thanks for the tips String Music, and I will also try try the TKO

Let me know how you like them!

Re: Mouth Calls

I picked up a Gooserbat at the show this year that runs great. Still use Hook's and Tom Teasers Butt Naked Hen and Cracked Corn. I did use Legacy calls but the last few I have bought from them don't run like they used to.

Re: Mouth Calls

Got my Hooks calls today. And while the Executioner 2 sounds great it's just too loud for me. The Game Changer on the other hand is a fantastic call and will certainly be in my vest come March 15th.

Good deal. If you like the Game Changer 3, you will definitely like the Halloran TKO. It is a very versatile call that can get medium-loud and soft.

Re: Mouth Calls

Game changer 3, I'll order a couple of David's as well. I've been in mouth call limbo for a year or so, I call pretty soft and most are designed to call really loud these days.

Again appreciate the advice

Re: Mouth Calls

Glad you found one. Since you're order some of his mouth calls, you might as well pick up his 3 pack of one-piece strikers. His purpleheart and ipe are two of my favorites. His strikers really grip the Dawkins aluminum and make that call sing.

You must be getting a kickback :rotf:

I'm pretty happy with the Fred cox tulipwood I run on my Aluminum. But may give them a run on a Cody World Class Slate which I've never been able to find a great striker for.

Re: Mouth Calls

I really liked the Gooserbat calls last year so I picked up a couple more this year while at the show as well.

I just ordered a few of the Hooks calls to give them a try
