Mosquitoes

Aint seen too many the past couple weeks. Only seen a few in 4 hunts so far (2 of those were all day hunts). Most in one hunt was probably yesterday afternoon in near-90 degree weather, and even then it was just a few, could have counted on one hand. a thermacell is on my wanted list for sure, but so far, I haven't even felt the need for one this year. Anyone else seen the same or am I just lucky?

Man, I would say you are VERY lucky! In my area (Lincoln County), we have gotten a ton of rain this year, and the skeeters are thick and they are big! We have been hanging stands the last week or so and they have been on us every day. Deep Woods off keeps em down some, but I am still getting bit. Without a Thermacell, hunting would be unbearable. As a matter of fact, I turn it on as soon as I leave the truck so I don't have to wait for it to warm up.

The good news is we have a cold front coming tomorrow and that should help big time.

We have had a lot of rain this summer too. So I am extra surprised I haven't been bit much since deer season started. A week or two before season, I would have a swarm of the small wispy mosquitoes around my legs every time I shot the bow in my backyard. Even that has tapered down a lot. Something around here has the mosquito population lower. Can't wait for the cold front too... maybe more deer on their feet...

I won't go in the woods without a thermacell

In Davidson County, we have experienced tremendous rainfall this year. However, I haven't used my Thermacell once in the stand due to the minimal presence of mosquitos.

I just went to check a camera and do some quick ML season scouting yesterday and anytime I stopped walking more than about 5 seconds, I heard that annoying buzz of a mosquito in my ear. Can't wait for the 1st frost.

Thank God for my Thermacell. I have only hunted 3 times this year, but I will just say that I took my Thermacell the last 2 times, if you know what I mean

I haven't had any problems with them where I hunt. Never really have. Must be lucky I guess.

Opening weekend they were awful, I had to break out the Thermacell. Yesterday it wasn't too bad, I got to my stand about 330 and didn't break it out till about 500. the wind went calm and they came swarming.
