I'm envious that you guys can keep 9" fish from the same waters(Tennessee river) that we have to throw that size fish back. Reading Alabama regs on crappie size limits(under 500 acre lakes and all state owned lakes), makes a whole lot more sense than Tennessee. That is intelligent utilization of the resource, whereas our biologist would apparently rather see them go to waste in many of our lakes where they never reach the magic 10" size limit.

I've thrown back a bunch that were 9" to 9& 1/2". Plenty big to eat on black crappies. Particularly on smaller lakes where a 10 incher is a rarity. Apparently the Alabama fisheries boys think the same way. All theory with me anyway , as I catch a lot more other fish to eat than I actually kill and eat. Just not that many(legal) crappie. lol
