Just curious who still hunts with the original style moon guide? If so can someone post a pic of this Saturday's predictions just curious if huntstand app is close. Thanks in advance

I do to an extent. I pay a ton of attention to it early season and late season when I'm hunting primarily a feed pattern. Don't pay much attention to it from early Nov to late Dec.

My buddy and his dad swear by it. I have to order his every year because he won't use plastic and order anything. Lol. Coincidentally, he and his father are the most successful and consistent killers of big bucks in our county. Don't know if it makes any difference, but their log books sure seem to support it. They hunt more than the average person, but they will be in the woods EVERY time the guide says to if at all possible.

I've done very detailed analysis of "solanar table" moon charts, and every other moon condition. The only pattern I can see is buck sightings are a little higher when the moon is waning versus when it is waxing, and buck sightings are lowest when the moon is 60% or greater illuminated on a waxing moon. But for some unknown reason, buck sightings take off again as soon as the waxing moon becomes full.
Personal observation last 50 yrs slightly better full to waning, same for elk too.

The problem with the "moon guides" is they assume ungulates like deer and cattle are affected by the gravitational pull of the moon. This may be true of aquatic animals (fish, etc.), but I've seen no data indicating mammals feel or are affected by this pull.
