Went up to the Clinch after work today and got there at 545 pm. Put in at the 61 bridge and went up to Peach Orchard and drifted back down. The trout were not very active today and only caught 6 which were all slot fish. Went by a couple of stretches with no bites for miles it seemed. About 200 yds from the bridge I hook into a nice Rainbow about 16 inches and then as I'm reeling it in a grey streak slashes by and my trout is gone. This beast ate my trout and my lure was hooked in the striper's mouth. It had a massive run upriver and ripped off the 10# Seaguar like it wasn't even hooked. I see the spool and tell my fishing partner to fire up the Yamaha and we chase it down to just below the island above the jail. I fought the fish all the way back down to the bridge and landed it 20 yds from the bridge. I was afraid we were not going to land it because we were on the left side and the rocks just above the launch were getting uncomfortably close. My 6'6" light action rod held up well and I thought it was going to break during the first 2 runs because it was bent over so bad. Gotta do this again!
