Whats the differance between the 700 and the Model 7 ? Is it the same as a short action 700, just a smaller stock ?

The M7 overall action length is shorter than a 700. Fewer aftermarket goodies to be had also. The caliber selection is also more limited from the factory.
I have a M7 that I like in a 260 caliber, but I'm happier after finding a M700 260 Mtn Rifle. Just feel less limitation if I want to change stocks and those sorts of silly things.
I think that both are fine models.

Guy here has a Mod 7 CL in 300 wsm,sure looks like a nice thumper.

IMO,,the M7 is the best woods hunting rifle ever built,,including the 30-30 lever action,,,
