Are there different scope mount set ups in terms of holes? If so, what is the difference and which is better? The one that I am looking at has three holes. What is the J lock?

Not sure on scope mount but the J lock will lock the bolt .

Older ones have 3 holes for the mount. The newer ones have 4 holes.

Yep. Keep in mind that the Model 7s have the same barrel contour as Mountain Rifles. And they are generally 20" long and shorter. But like the Mountain Rifles, they are light and sweet shooting little guns.BigD_625 said:

The DNZ one piece mounts will work on both the 3 and 4 hole versions. I have several sets and like them on the model 7.
The J-lock isn't a big deal, but some people hate them. They can be replace with a new shroud and firing pin from PT&G or Callahan.
