I went to see the Braves in 1994 as a highschool senior trip. I haven't been a serious fan of the MLB since the strike. They will lose a ton of fans over this as opposed to taking advantage of a golden opportunity to own sports on television.

No Link... Just pure speculation based on reports I am getting. Seems players not happy about sliding scales on contracts and they won't play unless paid for a full season. Its like the Baseball Strike of 1981 all over again. MLB lost a ton of fans over that one. Biggest difference this time is they can blame it on Covid -19.

Ask some minor leaguers to come up and play for a 1/4 of the pros salaries. I bet they would love the opportunity. I know I would.

The 30 franchises and MLB have a combined value that runs in the neighborhood of $50 billion. And they aren't scraping up another $150 million to at least make an offer into the middle ground and save the product from continued embarrassment.

And then the CBA expires at the end of 2021 and most people are expecting a work stoppage.

A work stoppage is a dangerous thing for baseball. Its a pretty dull game anyway and its viewership has been waning. People may learn they can live just fine without it!

That's what happened with the Strike in 1981 . Many fans left many (like me) never returned .


They have slowly built a new audience . Cubs winning the World Series probably brought in some excitement to the sport but they are losing the thunder on that with this BS
