Ok,so I have built a minnow tank at my house, two 20 gallon tanks ,one draining into the other for circulation,a large aerator I got from Poindexters bait just like he uses and a large 75 gallon filter system.I put it in my basement and its always cool down there.Question, once I put the crystals in the water to de-chlorinate the water a few times,is the water now fine eve though the blue color is gone? Also,What do you feed these fish?Ive had a pound in there a week and have only had a few die and haven't fed them anything.Side note, the reason I have a tank at home is because its 20 minutes 1 way to the closest bait shop and I wanted the convienience and fun of it.

Once the chlorine is gone its gone. Most of the time chlorine will leave city water in about 24 hours on its own. As far as food you might try a small amount of corn or oat meal.

I buy by the pound and keep mine in a $2.49 styrafoam cooler, usa a $6 aerator and chlorine remover, all from Wal Mart. Once a week I feed them reg fish food but my friend never feeds his and they live well over a month. Mine only die when I take them out to fish in this cold weather and dump them back in the cooler without giving them time yo adjust to the large temp change.

I have a minnow that my son gave a pardon over 2 years ago. It's been kept with the rest of fish in an 8 gallon tank. It eats goldfish flakes and I put city water in a gallon jug and add 20 drops of the stuff that takes chlorine out of the water and dump it in the tank when needed.

Ive kept them in tanks for several years but now keep them in a spring fed creek. If you feed them in a tank, over time they will die due to ammonia from the minnow poop.Better off not to feed them.
