I am going to be coming back to TN on leave and have heard/read that military personnel on leave carrying leave documents are not required to have a license to hunt. Can you clarify or elaborate on what this actually consist of and covers?

I would like to hunt big game (deer), Small game (squirrel) and waterfowl on Cheatham WMA, Haynes Bottom WMA, sycamore Creek as well as KY Lake and Lake Barkley. Do I need to purchase anything to be able to do so?

Thank you for your answers.

With your military leave papers on your person, you are not required to have a LICENSE of any type to hunt. I think it also covers the WMA PERMITS, but I am not sure. You need to call the Regional office of the WMA where you intend to hunt to see if your are exempt from the permits.

You are exempt from the Migratory Bird Permit. However, I see no exemption from the federal waterfowl stamp, so you will need one of those to waterfowl hunt.

Thank you for your service!
