OK, my son(20yr old) wants to go on a hunting trip for opening of gun season. His original idea was Ohio gun but I talked him out of that as the stories about gun hunts up there are crazy. Now in an effort to
save a little money he is now thinking about public land in middle TN for a change of scenery. Just need pointed in the right direction. I know that we will be going in blind but what are the out of the way
WMA's (if any) to look into? Bad thing for him is he only has1buck tag left :rotf: Thought I would help my research by starting here.
 
For gun I'd say Cheatham. Huge area. If you got a muzzleloader I'd go Priest. Check regs though.
 
I'd go Cheatham. The hunting pressure will be high there, but I feel like it will be significantly less then most WMA's since I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) they only allow bucks to be killed after muzzleloader opens. It's a big area so just try to get away from other hunters, find some travel routes, and maybe ya'll can put one down. Good luck.

You can also use a shotgun on Priest, so if you have a slug slinger (rifled barrel) you can use that too.

Priest gets hammered opening weekend of gun, so does every WMA in Mid TN. There is just not an under the radar WMA in the this area where you can use guns. Too many people want to hunt around here and there is not enough private land that allows it anymore, so they utilize the public places.
