Losing/Finding

I reckon I've got it bad. One day this week I got a set of Talley scope rings for a rifle that arrives next week. I had them at my gun bench where cleaning, scope mounting, bore scoping, etc takes place and this afternoon I couldn't find them. No reason for them to be anywhere other than on that bench. Moving some stuff around looking for the rings and what did I find? An unopened box of 100 Lapua .308 brass. That should have excited me right then but it didn't until 10 minutes later when I found the scope rings

I know what you mean, I had a 2 handle hide fleshing knife this winter , I was using to flesh some coon hides one day, couple days later, caught some more.. skint them and started to flesh them.. waaa laaa.. no fleshing knife to be found.. tore my shed completely apart more than once. Finally had to order a new one.. $75.. that was 4 months ago.. still have not found it…

I was about to order some 7mm tcu dies, and decided to wait. When I built a new shelf for my dies... I had already bought a set. Things get foggy after 50.

I misplaced a bolt for one of actions, looked everywhere for weeks on and off. Finally ordered another one, and was very happy to finally find the original, under my chair at the loading bench....it was right where I put it...lol

To me it really is uncanny how I can "lose" something that just had in my hand by putting it somewhere where I'll "remember" where I put it later.

Last week I bought a new set of punches for roll pins on PTO shafts and have only stood in one place at a table mounted vise to use them. Yesterday I noticed one missing from the package. Looked everywhere all around. Nothing.

Last night I actually dreamed (in color) that I found my missing punch and it was right where it was supposed to be, just a bit hidden by other stuff. I looked all under and around all that stuff when I couldn't find it the other day. It better not be there now!!
