Anyone try the above in a .338? Don't know whether to post this in Reloading or Rifles? Curious about terminal performance, accuracy and reloading data. I have better glass on my .338.

I had a friend who loaded 110 gr bullets, IIRC, in his .300 WinMag. Not really sure what his purpose was, other than to maybe develop a long range varmint load. 🤷🏻‍♂️ they were screaming tho best I can recall, maybe near 4000 fps?

Go with a light Barnes or Hammer. You gain speed, lose bc, but if wind is not an issue then it will be just fine. Will kill things just fine too

A hunting buddy of mine used to load 210 gr nosler partitions in his .338 WM. He killed deer with it but it was a lot of overkill and recoil. He went back to his .300 WM With 150 gr Partitions and liked it a whole lot better. I agree with EastTNHunter and go with a Barnes or Hammer and get the velocity up there. I've hunted with a .300 WM for several years with 180 gr bullets and have had no problems, just dead deer, up close and far, but it's easier to shoot a 6mm or 25 cal and kill them just as dead with a lot less recoil.

I have a 338 Lapua Imp for out west. I loaded down to 165 grain to try on deer here. The 2 does I shot, it vaporized the lungs. The lungs ran out with the blood.
