Leupolds or Zeiss Scopes

Leupold. Zeiss perform well, but they are heavy and have a european diopter that I think is eat up with ugly. Leupolds are light and trim. Plus zeiss scopes were used to kill american soldiers in wwII and leupolds are made in the U.S. In most reviews I have read, they are dead even and the cost is about equal. Stay loyal my friend.

Well I like Leupolds and have them on several rifles.

But I also shoot a 7x57 which apparently gave old Teddy R and the Rough Riders fits on San Juan Hill when the Americans were in Cuba.

And I killed a couple deer with the old 7mm Mauser using a Leupold this year. With Czech ammo.

So who's to know?

I don't think that you can go wrong with either and don't worry about the Germans. Our grandfathers kicked their tails quite a while ago and I'm pretty sure that we're on speaking terms again.

not trying to hi-jack a thread, but what about US Optics? Forgot what I was watching on the tube one night, but someone was using their scopes.

Add $1000 + to a VX-3 = US Optics (in terms of cost only, I'm not comparing quality)

I believe the US Optics are in a different class than both the Zeiss and Leupold.

I like Leupold. The 15 or so I have / had have never failed me and I really like the service I get when I send one in for upgrades.

In that sense, I'll stick with Leupold. Call it brand loyalty I guess. Unless Leupold treats me differently, I'll continue to buy their products.

I'd jump on a USO for $1000+ cost of Leupold VX3... Most of 'em are around $2500 new...

But when you get into that level of glass, it would turn a leupold or a zeiss into a tasco real quick.

From what I've heard and read (I'll never be able to afford either), the USO and S&B are the top 2 scope brands made. I'd put Nightforce in 3rd.

Can't beat leupold customer service, that I know from personal experience.
