The coozies work fine but I've noticed they polished the surface smooth on some calls

Very true, I've seen this with my pots that I carry in coozies.

Glass and crystal: conditioning stone

Aluminum: scotch brite pad

Slate: Scotch brite pad

For strikers I carry some pool cue chalk with me to dip the ends in when needed, works great.

Pretty much the same exact for me, I just don't use sand paper on my slates.

Good deal. And as Larry said humidity and the Dawkins is an interesting dynamic. Mornings like this morning that are crisp and dry th call sings.
