I keep seeing all these 10 point bucks being posted. The most points on any buck I've killed was 9. In 30+ years of hunting from central Ms up to LBL in the field I haven't seen over 1/2 dozen bucks that had over 8 points. I'm willing to trade 2 dozen 8 pointer sightings for just 1 10 pointer sighting to anyone willing to send one my way. I've been trying to best 9 points for the last 20 years.

Me too, I killed one main frame 10 in KY in '04. I have killed a ton of 8's and 9's. wish the genes were better here. Also a lot of tall narrow racks here. I would like a wide buck, only killed one over 18 wide.

Ain't seen one while hunting but filmed these behind the house this summer.

The pic doesn't show so well but there were 2 10 points, a big 8 and 3 smaller bucks

Same here. I have killed 2 symmetrical 10s. Except both had several points broke at the end of the points. Big symmetrical 10 is my dream.

I have been lucky I guess. The first buck I ever killed was a 10pt, about 32 years ago. (Dang has it really been that long). Since I have taken 6- 10pts all together. Good luck, I think this will be the year for you.

I've probably killed 15, 8pt bucks. Never killed one with more points. I did however miss a short tine ten point once. I have a friend who has killed several 10's+ up to 12's and has never killed an 8.

Lol A friend of mine is the same way. He has killed everything from does to a huge massive 15pt but CANNOT kill an 8. Every time he thinks he has one he walks up to a broken tine 7 pt. He cant stand it.

I have been lucky and killed 2 ten points.

One was a typical and one was a crazy non-typical with most of one side broke off.

Hang in there. I now now killed several 9 ptrs and many 8 ptrs but it wasn't until this year that I got my first 10. Some of the 8 and 9 ptrs had bigger racks but I will always remember my first 10. By the way it took me 28 years to get that 10 ptr.

I haven't been at it as long as you but I've only killed one with more than 8 points and that was this year and only seen like 6 or 7 ever

I've been very lucky, killed several 8s, 1 10 that was a mainframe 8 with double eye guards, the 10 from Monday liked about 1/2" on both g2s from being a 12 they forked but not enough., I killed a 14 point, and a 11 point that had a missing brow.

Here are my two btw. Thanks for opening the door to be able to repost them! :)

The ML buck from this past Sat, a perfect 10.

And my 10 from 06, that actually was a 12 pt frame, with a bump on one side, and an undersize for counting point on the other.

After 20 years of hunting I hadn't taken an 8 and finally shot a good one. As I walked up on it I hoped it was finally the big 8. It was a typical 12! Now after 40 years of hunting I too am getting a lot of 7 or 8's but haven't taken a 10. Gives me something to keep hunting for.

I lied. I let an 11 buck buck walk several years ago and in retrospect I should have taken him because of how unique his rack was, albeit small. He had a spike growing out of the center of his head between his two main tines. He walked because of his size.

If I ever do see a 10 pointer and he doesn't measure up to my personal size restrictions he'll walk as well...as much as I'd really like to take a 10 pointer. I've seen a bunch of 8s that are much larger and impressive than many of the 10s I've seen taken. The 10 I'm looking for is going to have to be as impressive as a big 10 as a big 8 is for an 8 pointer. That makes my goal much harder.

Main frame 8s are the norm for almost all deer. Localized areas may lack brow tines making them 6s. Other areas may carry a lot trash making them more than 8s. In my hunting areas that 8 gene pool REALLY dominates.

Thanks for all the posts of everybody's 10 pointers. Rub it in guys, lol.

I have been very blessed over the years, I have killed 3-11 points, 4-10 points, and a slough of 8 points. I guess the 9 pointers have always evaded me. lol
