UMMMM How are they going to sell leftover permits when they haven't drawn yet!

From the Quota Hunt Instructions:

"If quota remains after the conclusion of the vacancy drawing, leftover permits will be sold by all license agents and online on a first come, first serve basis beginning at 8 a.m. on August 23, 2017."

Do you have to pay a fee if you have the lifetime license for leftover permits? I couldn't find it anywhere online.

Kinda of make you wonder what is going if TWRA did have left over permits before the results have been posted. WATCH OUT 1201AM....results may be posted.

so that means they did not do the drawing. You figure they were out watching the eclipse and forgot to push the GO button on the computer?

Please don't tell me they draw from a big hat.

Something I have noticed. Lots of software is apparently being upgraded whether you the user like it or not.

Some of these upgrades are quite complicated. And, perhaps, the intent is to have the user purchase new or pay someone to do it for you.

Anyway, it bubbles to the surface when something that is totally automated fails and the explanation is not forthcoming. That means they somehow screwed something up that was working perfectly.

Be interesting to learn of the WHY for this delay

That is why it is absolutely imperative to check for references on these vendors before signing the contract!!! :bash:
You can't do that when the vendor is a buddy to somebody...or better yet somebody, who is important, has big stock in said vendor.

And you know that was the case on this contract?

It was just a general statement, not speaking of this contract specifically.

Spill the beans scn. Tell us when the results will be posted.

I have emailed a couple of folks that might have that information the past couple of days, and all they have been willing to share is that the TWRA staff is working some Very long hours in the validation process.

It is pretty obvious at this point that something has gone awry. I have no info on whether is is an issue with the new vendor, or if it is just a major computer glitch. We have seen some of the largest and wealthiest companies in the world have computer problems that basically shut down their whole company. To think that "little" TWRA is immune to a computer glitch is wishful thinking. Sometimes, it actually turns out that it really isn't anyone's fault and is just a case of S happening.

I understand the frustration, particularly from those that have some early hunts and are facing deadlines in getting some leave time approved. Hopefully it will get resolved very soon. I am very appreciative of the patience that most folks are showing. I can promise you that some folks I know very well over at Ellington Center are doing everything within their power to finish it up.

Here here!!!!!!!'

I worked on the first two RFP (Request for Proposal) that set the contracts for our first electronic license system and the contract following that one. It is a long and very involved process. I can assure you that all references were closely checked. While I didn't work on the latest, I have zero reason to believe that the agency process was changed.

I'm sure that the references were thoroughly checked again. The current vendor was not someone new to the scene. They were already operating their system in several states, so they had a track record that could be checked. The first year on any system is always a challenge. I remember meeting every Friday afternoon for 6-8 months when we first implemented the electronic system working out minor bugs. It is rare to have a totally seamless transition.

Again, I understand the frustration and appreciate the patience.

Managers having to justify their groups of employees (or budgets) by making up huge (or small) projects to ever change and re-implement computer subsystems. Once something just works - no way can you just let it run :-(

Does anyone have any actual info as to when leftovers go on sale?

I wouldn't think the 8/23 at 8 am note on the site is correct as they didn't draw until last night. I would assume today, but there are none listed on the site, and I know there are leftovers for some WMAs.
