They didnt plant any crops on Tn side other than by South welcome station . Ive been a couple of times and seen a few does and small bucks. There is a lot of acorns though in different places.

I was there in September. Mostly just weeds on the TN side. There are far to many hogs on the South side to ever expect to grow crops unless they actually start addressing that issue. You better drive careful too, I saw a car get destroyed by
A 200-250 pound boar while I was there.

I am taking my son out this weekend on the juvenile hunt. I hope the deer are moving. Looks like a good cool down for the weekend!

As far as managing wildlife at LBL, I wouldn't count on a single soul to raise a finger there.

went opening day saw very few deer, usually on opening day there crawling around everywhere in the fields, No crops and the fields are fairly overgrown. Saw my first hog as well, looked to be a sow 250lbs at least. Good Luck! I'll be back up there to bow hunt later in the season

I just spent some time up there the last 10 days or so and hunt it every year. Compared to the last several years: I seen a lot more does than normal. I seen my normal amount of small bucks but no bucks over 110" which isn't my norm. I'm hoping when I go back the first part of November that the bigger bucks are out. I hunted area 12 mostly but scouted/hunted 15 and 16 too.
The hogs are still all over the place but I didn't see any in my area 12 hunting spots that had hogs every where last year. The hog numbers, groupwise, were smaller. I seen more single hogs and small groups of 3 or 4 instead of 8+ like last year.
So to me the deer numbers seem to be up but nothing close to like the old days of 15+ years ago.

I like your determination. LBL has very big bucks but it's not a place to expect easy success. Sounds like you put in the effort either way though

LBL says no killing hogs. From what I have been told.... They have had a "plan" to eradicate the hogs for at least 3 to 4 years if not more. They say hunters killing/hunting the hogs will only make them educated and go nocturnal. That will make them harder to find and trap. lol, but every year there is more and more hogs. Hmmm....

This will be my third Nov. to hunt area 15. This year is the first to draw the gun hunt though. I've had success and I've seen good #s of deer each year. I was disappointed that none of the fields were planted this year. However, I did notice some fields were being brush-hogged when I was there on fall break. It appears a few fields were completely done and others just had trails around the perimeter done fairly recently from what I can tell. My issue at LBL has been people crowded into the easiest areas to access and hunt. I'm willing and able to go a long way in and put out the effort, but I don't like that I can't park or access an area because people are conjugated on all the trails and roads.

The trail camera pics were eye-opening. The deer definitely have all the hunters patterned :) Only had one pic of a deer during shooting light in 2 weeks! That was in the woods too, not on a field road or trail where the pressure really is.
