what do you mean the die out? you mean the EHD outbreak in 2007?

I hunted there in 2010. did not see any big bucks but saw a lot of deer. I did see a couple of good deer checked in while there. One was an 8 pt that was nearly 130" and the other was a big 6 but had the spread to make him legal. I also had an legal 8 pt cross the road in front of me when I was driving back to camp....

I would assume the EHD outbreak of 2007 would not be affecting the area at this point.

As for whether it is worth it that is up to you. If the hunt is either sex and you are driving from E. TN then on the last day if you have not seen a big buck shoot a doe for the meat. Unless you are only after big bucks.

I don't think the deer population is even close to the pre EHD out break numbers. Probably not in the same ballpark

I guess you are right. I forgot while there people were telling me they used to see 20-30 a day, but they also said, that stopped before the EHD die out, because of over harvest of does. They then said, the EHD, was the nail in the coffin so to speak. IDK with the mature timber there, that they will ever get back up to those numbers.

I completely agree with that

I wouldn't know of anything from 2007 but I haven't seen tons of deer or sign on the wma. I have seen some sign yes, and jumped a few deer, hunted it twice. Never seen one while actually hunting. But it seems there's an OK population there.

They are not................but then, the pre EHD numbers for does were ridiculous. Still the big bucks are NOT Back in the numbers as before according to the kill results. Time will take care of that.
