I have been mega bummed about my camera pics on the farm. Last year I was fortunate enough to bust a bruiser early season and had 20-30 deer sightings a day. We had a tornado come about 200 yards from our property but didnt mess anything up, but I have had my camera out 2 weeks on my salt blocks and corn and only one pic of a deer. This time last year I was getting 100 a night. They just made the first cut of hay, but I am completely dumbfounded how I can go from 100 pics a night to 2 pics over 2 weeks of the same deer. Can you all help me out and give me some advise on what could have happened or what I should do. This will make a grown man cry.

Did the tornado do damge on the property adjoining yours? Possibly change or block deer travel patterns or route's? I had this issue a few years ago. Had 1000 pictures a week in 2009 and killed a 116 inch 9 point. The next year I was getting 400 pictures in a 2 week time period and all doe. Not one single buck the entire summer. 1st week of muzzleloader I found out my problem. Neighbors dogs were running my property and I saw 4 deer that week and all were being chased. Needles to say I corrected that problem but I'm still not seeing the good bucks like I used to.

I would suggest the hot, dry weather may have been the culprit.

I would be interested to know if you start getting more pictures once we start getting more rain.

Just a guess but the tornado may have created a really great sanctuary area close by. The deer may now feel more comfortable and have all they need forage-wise in the thick stuff. In the temps we've been experiencing, animals aren't going to move unless they have to.

Hey guys thanks for answering. My camera has taken pics of a deer and it catches me checking it. The tornado didnt hit our property but I can go to the back of our property and see where it hit roughly 200 yards behind us. I checked our creek today and its mega low but has a little water in the deepest spots. I hope I get more pics once the rain hits. They arent hitting my mineral holes like they did and put 100 lbs of corn out friday and didnt get one pic. Maybe if the rain comes It will green up the area. Right now its like walking on pringles. Regardless I would love to know what would cause a pile of deer to pack up there stuff and move on to another place. I hope it changes, early season has always been my favorite.

I gave you an opportunity and you dropped the ball. Next time you say you are going to meet somebody, meet them, dont stand them up. Its not a nice thing to do.
