Killed this buck last week in southern Moore Co. Was hunting the side of a ridge with a logging road about 70 yards below me. Just after daylight had a doe feeding and easing her way down the road, she was working from left to right. She had probably been in my sight for 10 minutes or so and had finally made her way out of my vision to the right. After a few more minutes I caught movement coming fast out of the bottom up the road in the direction of the doe. I noticed right away it was a buck, but couldn't tell what he was as it was really thick and all I had was a few holes here and there thru the trees and branches. I saw what appeared to be good beams and long g-2's. He was fixing to disappear where the doe had. This all happened in probably 6 or 7 seconds from the time I saw him. I didn't even think I was going to get a shot if I wanted one. Right before he hit the edge of the thick brush he hit the brakes. In a split second I got excited and tripped the trigger on the 7-08. He went about 25 yards and crashed. He wasn't quite what I thought he was, but a nice buck none the less.
