I have been hunting a property for the last few years with permission from landowner. This year a couple of weeks before the season they shut down all hunting, anybody know what this is. The landowner has tried to explain to me it's something his father did years ago and he doesn't seem to know a ton about it. Ya'll have any clue and any idea how to find out if it is the whole property or just parts? Also we have had trouble with poachers over the years and we have now way to or want to let them know. What happens if the get caught beside the poaching? Thanks for the help or thoughts.

you might try goggling it. I did. sounds like some animal lovers had gotten into his head. I had an aunt that had this mentality and tried to make her 80 acres into a preserve. funny thing was she turned around, clear cut the place and moved out of state.

the land owner said they shut it down every 5 or 10 years for deer population in the area? He is not a animal lover but I'm not sure about his parents. They just told him no hunting this year, but he tells me it will be fine next year. Who knows

If you are talking about a conservation easement on the property then the landowner established the rules when the easement was filed. The rules can be just about anything they decided on. It has nothing to do with the state. The rules are established to meet certain federal requirements for tax breaks.
