This morning I spotted a buck making a scrape at 380 yards. Hit the grunt call and he started walking my way. I could tell he wasn't quite what I was looking for rack wise, but his gray color told me he was an older deer. He also looked sickly as you could see his spine, ribs, etc. He had big patches of hair missing on his sides and his eyes were sunk in.
One of the bucks I shot last year had eyes sunk in like this one and he tested positive for cwd. I'm interested in how this one tests and I'm going to send the jaw bone off for aging.
Update! He tested positive for CWD. Added photos of him. Processor said it looked as if he was "wasting away". Very little body mass to him.
