I hunted up the ridge and down 4-500 yards away. Didn't see the first deer, and had to climb down at 9. Walking back I walked up in this guy running a doe. Missed first shot while he was trotting behind her, and he stopped in a perfect clear shot lane. 150 grain CoreLocs and he went 30 yards downhill and piled up. He was right exactly where I was going to put the landowner, but he couldn't go ;) . Thankful to the Lord for the blessing this morning!

First of all congratulations!!!

I'm not at all trying to dump on your thread, but it hurts my heart when good folks feel that they have to title a thread with "I got a little one", or "Littlish". The original poster may not have meant it this way, but it's the way I read it. I believe that we have lost something as a community of hunters when we feel the need to pseudo apologize for great deeer like the one above. You pay a lot of money for the priveledge of deer hunting, shoot what makes you happy and don't feel like you need approval from others.

I apologize for the use of your thread, congrats on a great deer be very proud of him.

No harm done to me :tu: I am tickled with any deer I shoot, and I don't pass any deer (buck or doe) when I hunt except yearlings. I have a large family and we try to only eat venison all year depending on how many daddy can kill in the fall. The deer I killed wasn't a little nor a big 8, and that's why I chose to say littleish.

I understand completely and I too call them like I see them when I kill them. I would never call somebody elses deer small, but if I kill a small one you will see me post that I killed a small one. Just simple truth in my eyes! Im not trying to justify anything as I kill what makes me happy.

I assume you are hunting "near Winchester". I am near there but west. Saw my first buck yesterday. Hope sightings pick up now... Going back out this evening. Maybe my luck will improve. Congrats on a fine buck!
