Very nice buck! And I shot at a buck 4 times with a rifle one time and he just stood there. Had one bullet left but decided to give up and watched him walk off... The gun had rolled over that morning but did not realize it had taken that hard of a hit. After looking at the scope I found a big dent and after checking it, it was shooting about a foot high.

Grats on the buck! Glad you were able to recover him and finish him off.

Been there, done that as well... I emptied 7 rounds from a 10 rd mag on a deer once in a field. First couple shots the deer didn't move, then after 3rd shot deer started running toward the woods. I managed to get off another 4 rounds before he made it to the timber. I couldn't figure out how I could have missed that many times, but I found him dead just inside the woods. He had 5 separate entrance wounds that I found, must have missed with only 2. That was back when I was 15 years old. I've since figured out it's much better to take 1 well placed shot, than try to empty the mag as fast as possible when it comes to deer hunting!

Found out what happened. Turns out the shot was about 50 yards further than what I thought so I am pretty sure I shot under him twice and almost a 3rd time.

Congratulations - I know you had to be shaken up by the time you fired that 3rd shot! I had a doe do sort of the same thing to me with my ML last year. It came running by at about 35 yards and I shot knowing I had lots of hair all around the scope reticle. Yet the darned doe made a little circle and stopped on full alert looking around for what made that loud BANG as if she hadn't been harmed at all. My jaw was about to drop to the ground as I grabbed at my ramrod to reload then she dropped to the ground like a rock and never even kicked again. You never know what you are going to see with deer hunting. Sure glad you found your buck - he is a good one!!

Makes sense considering the trajectory of most ML's. Another 50 yards is a big deal. That's why I try my best to stick to the thickest places with my ML or have real good known landmarks to reference. Nobody wants to wound a deer.

Congrats
Wait till you shoot one 3 times and he stands and takes it like a heavy weight champion
Talk about shaking like crazy trying to reload in the stand. A rut crazed buck is definitely crazy.
