Well I went out to my friend Jim's farm for the first time this year. I have been saving it for rifle season. The main reason it is open fields with a border of woods, so the range is so far I can't use my bows or my ML. Many of the shots would be over 200 yards.

So I set my ground blind right on the norther border of his property line. That way I could not only cover the edge of the trees, but along the creek as well. At right about daylight a doe materialized over on the neighbor's land. I watched her run around and eventually leave. I'm guessing she jumped/swam the creek.

At around 8:30 another doe came up behind me from the open field. Since there is no season in Knox County right now, I let her walk as well. Still, I was thinking there was going to be a buck coming from somewhere with the does around.

It was nine when I noticed something "flashing" over on the neighbor's property. Recently the property was bought and heavily posted for "no hunting and fishing". I haven't spoken to the landowner where I hunt to ask permission so no matter what I couldn't take a shot over there.

Sure it is someone else's land, but it was the first day of rifle season. These guys wearing hunter orange DROVE THEIR PICKUP TRUCK, right into the field! I'm not sure they are the landowners, I'm guessing they weren't supposed to be there. I was hacked off, since their driving ruined the hunt on my side of the property line. Later I saw them come up behind my SUV (on my side of the property line) and then turned and drove away. I'm not sure what they were doing. I was hunting with permission on my side of the line.

So the first day of rifle season for me was totally ruined by a moron. I know that there are a LOT of does that live over on their property. I was hoping I would catch a buck traversing the place I was at and get him before he got there. Even if it was their property, driving a truck into the field just isn't cool. :(
