I see giys using a long piece of PVC to grab these jugs.
I know why as to allow the fish to fight without breaking off.

They are usually around 7 ft long.

Anyone ever build one of these? How and what kind of hook is attached to grab the jug or noodle?

Big J....I got hooked on jugging last summer. I took a old 10 ft. Frog gig pole and removed the gig. Took 3 metal clothes hangers and took wire cutters and cut off three hooks. Placed them on the end of gigging pole in treble hook pattern pulled some electrical tape tight as heck to hold them and wala...jugging pole!

i love to jug fish but it can be trickey during the summer so i use only about a dozen and put them in a straght line and go find a spot and fish and swim while keeping a eye on them i have also used my jet ski to retreve them

When jugging last summer I caught more numbers of fish early in the morning, however I caught larger fish at night. I know that is not a accurate statistic but thats how it went for me. We were fishing on the TN River in Huntsville, Alabama. I enjow throwing the noodles right before day break then bass fishing then going to check them!

I dont know this to be a fact b/c I dont fish with anything other than chicken breast but I believe you can as long as you catch them by rod/reel and not a cast net. Again I could be very incorrect.

I accidently made a real good jug catcher, I had a old metal handled paint roller, took the roller off the rod (1/4 inch) and bent a hook on the end.. works like a charm.. almost all of my bigger cats come at night, I dont jug fish at night, the ones I go after can keep a jug/noodle under for a good long time.. but then again I used bait a foot long and will weigh a pound..
