Is this a grouse?

This bird flew into a tree behind to escape a fox.
I suspect it's a grouse, but I've never seen one before.
The fox was circling below the tree for about 10 minutes. It was cool to watch.

Thanks all. Yes a hen pheasant it is. I looked it up on Google and 100% hen pheasant. Rare sighting these days.
I'm in middle Tennessee. Don't want to give too much away.

Most likely a escapee from a game farm.We are seeing Pheasants around Benton county fairly often. You pay for a hunt they release them before the hunt some get away.

Can't see the beak, if long the woodcock. Seems this time of year is when we occasionally see them
