is crab apple best to plant for deer

Is crab Apple best tree to plant for deer? Also how do you protect the tree from getting ate up and dieing from animals eating it?

Its good,dont know about it being the best,put a wire fence cage around it

Not sure their is a best but there are certainly several varieties that are great for deer. Most crabs tend to be quicker growers and more disease resistant. Wire fence like FH said.
