This was drilled in 2 years ago as a minor ingredient in a cover crop blend and was left to go to seed before the field was reworked as a dove field. Last fall the field was sprayed and used as a dove field then later planted in canola as a winter cover. Technically this is a second year volunteer stand in late April.

These pics were on April 3rd of that year... balansa clover is incredible.

My biggest complaint with it is it can be hard to kill off mid May when planting a summer crop. This stuff choked out my beans I planted late May despite nuking it with roundup a couple weeks before.

I'm not going to fight it this year. Just bushhog it after it goes to seed, get a second crop mid summer, then nuke it with gly plus 24 d and plant fall crop in Sept.
and the deer love it!

cost. more than annual clovers, but not ridiculous
also harder to kill off once established. not a problem if you aren't planting summer plots
Far less expensive than ladino and the summer heat pretty much kills it for august plantings of fall plots. Enough nitrogen in it that when you mow it or it dies it decays really quick. If you let it go to seed it will be back next year. It is very prolific
