I messed around and missed the Utah draw. Has anyone ever hunted archery elk hunted out there? Specifically unit 48? I still have a few days to get in the draw and if I'm not mistaken you can also shoot a deer with that tag.

After researching Unit 48 more. I may just go back to Utah with an Any Bull tag and get anterless tag too.

Have hunter Diamond Creek (Unit 76 I think) twice. Good numbers of elk, lots of roads, thus lots of hunters....as usual though, a few miles in & lose 90% of them. Only place I've ever seen a 400" bull in my life & saw him twice.

Just in case someone reads this thread looking up Idaho info. You can NOT shoot a deer on an elk tag.

Idaho controlled hunt application period is open til June 5th in case any of you guys are looking for options after striking out elsewhere

I just came back to this post. I didn't assume you could shoot a deer with an elk tag. Just able to get a tag for a deer and elk on the same unit. In Utah a lot of units are any bull tag for elk but must draw a limited entry tag for deer.
