I made sure to use scent blocker, but I had a doe come I around 40 yards I never saw her or heard her until she sounded the alarm, then she went on for about 10 mins, after this happens what's the next step? Wait it out or is the hunt pretty much over at that point? Thanks

Was your scent blowing towards here?

You can never eliminate your scent, just reduce it.

I make sure my clothes are washed scent free, stored in Ziplock Big Bags and then put the Big Bags in a scent tight container. Shower scent free and don't forget to use a towel that has been washed in scent free. Spray Scent Killer liberally on your boots and clothing.

Remember, to dry off with a towel that has been washed and dried scent free. Taking a shower with Scent Killer only to dry off with a towel that smells like laundry sheets and scented laundry detergent negates everything you did in the shower to reduce your scent.

I got winded on Christmas afternoon and never saw her (very thick blackberry patch between us). But she blew and stomped and blew and stomped and got pretty close before sneaking out. A little later at dusk, I was sneaking out through the tall weeds and found myself in range of a young buck and I got a little shaky and shot an arrow right past him. But that reminds me that just because one deer winded you doesn't mean there won't be other deer come by. Keep hunting

I've had deer show up not long after a situation like that and still had a good hunt. When an old doe does that I've always thought its a good time to fill an antler less tag.....

Wait her out (staying dead still), had a doe "mouthy" do just that this week and waited her out. Acually there were 3, she knew something wasn't right but didn't know what. This lasted about 5 minutes, wanted to "smoke" her just to shut her up! After about 15 minutes they came out of the thicket. It was dead clam who knows where my sent was traveling. Now there are only 2.

This.

Also, I looked at the wind patterns on Scoutlook and, at least where I was yesterday, it showed three abrupt wind changes from 5 to 8 am. I thought, no way, but it happened and I got busted right at first light. I waited it out though.

I had one blow at me this year and blew back mimicking her. I've done this on more than one occasion and it works. On this occasion She came from about 45 yds out to 15 to check things out. I shot here there.

I also had one blow at me this year and trot off. there was another deer 40-50 yds away. It paid no attention, to the other deer, kept feeding and walked by me at 15 yds feeding. they were young bucks so they got a pass.

Keep in mind deer can only hear so far. So if a deer is a ways off and working to you and one blows, chances are the others will have no idea and keep coming. Wind is what you need to worry about and remember you can do all kinds of stuff to reduce your scent, but you can't eliminate it. If you play the wind right and the deer cooperate you can do nothing and kill deer, but I choose to take some precautions.

You can't go by the forecast to tell if you got winded. The wind may swirl or change because of thermals, terrain, rising sun etc. during bow season I got winded and all the deer were supposed to be upwind, but it was still calm in the early morning so my scent spread out all around is my best guess. 5 mins after they spooked, the wind started blowing in the right direction. Also I had been pretty good about scent control, even spraying my climber. But that doe at 15 yards knew something was there right away and she stomped a few times and spooked off with the whole herd spooking too.
