how long?

Just shot a doe middle of body clean pass thru.
.deer walked bout 50 yards and disappeared..
How long should i wait before tracking?

My policy - Wait an hour, get your arrow. Good (pinkish) blood, start tracking. Darker blood, up to 4 hours wait. A lot depends on the deer's reaction, rain or not (though not much of an archery hunter in the rain), and other miscellaneous factors.

When you say middle of the body, do you mean top to bottom or front to back....or both?

Both...looked like it entered in center of rib cage. Found arrow..dark blood.. and stomach..oh boy. Walked out to truck gonns give another hour

I would wait at least until mid-afternoon, at a minimum, to be safe. If you jump the deer it may not stop until it gets to the next county.

I would wait til about 3 hours til dark and track very slowly and try to spot it. It might still be alive but should be weak and maybe u can finish it. It wont go far if not disturbed.

Found her w a buddies help...im colorblind and have a hard time finding blood...he picked up trail and we tracked 150 yards or so and there she lay..
Blood was specks at first then last 75 yards was pouring out..
Shot got back of one lung liver missed stomach exited in front of hip...entrance was were i thought but she must of turned when i shot...glad i found her!

Was probably 3.5 hours between shot and recovery and was still warm and not stiff so dont think she been dead long was laying down in a hole under a big rock....
