There have been a few times where my wife's gotten home around 3:45 on days where I'm keeping our daughter. I'm so pumped and want to get to the stand, but it would be nearly impossible to get there before 4:15ish. I've opted each time to stay home, but I wonder what y'all would do in the same situation?

Well it's 412 here now an it will be dark within 30-45 mins. I'd probably just wait. But that's just me

Never liked rushing to get out the door. I'd enjoy the time of everyone being together.

If you can get in mostly undetected I say go for it. If walking in you are likely to spook deer I'd say wait for better time.

Best advice I ever got and took was when a buddy told me that if you got there and had only 30 minutes till dark to still go.

He said how many deer you shot right before dark?

I took his advice and killed a GREAT 10 point.

Go.

Depends where you go and how quick you can get there. I'd only hunt from the ground or a stand that's already hung. I went on Sunday afternoon, didn't set up till after 3:30 pm but had a small buck within 10 yards by sunset.

Then today I got to the woods by 1:30 pm and jumped a decent buck. I think he was bedded. Figures, I get there early and a deer I'd actually shoot is right there and runs off. Had a button come under the stand though, that was all right

I guess I'll give it a whirl next time. At least I'll know. Had I gone today, I'd probably have been in the stand by 4:15. It's already hung, but it's 20 minutes away. Actually, the wind would've been wrong for that set today, but y'all have given me just enough to go on to at least give it a try the next time it happens and the wind is right.
