How Good is a Deer's Hearing?

.... and now BSK has just gotten out of surgery, where he had the ears from a deer he killed surgically attached to his head. He is expected to have full muscle control of the ears within 7 to 10 days.

I don't know how good their hearing is. Last year I had a nice 8 point come up form behind me while in a tree stand. I let him get about 10yrds in front and cooked my gun. That deer didn't think about it he was gone.
