I went out today with 2 M/L both CVA Optims V2's and we figured out a good load for one that shot just a hair over an inch at 100yds in a nice circular pattern. The other one which of course is MINE I couldn't find what it liked before I gave up for the day. I did notice that most of my groups were with in 1-1.5 inches vertically but would string out on both sides to about 3-4 inches. Of course some bullet/sabot combos did better than others but they all spread out side to side. I'm using BH209 powder and I tried 100gr and 110gr(which the gun hated with everything I tried). I also tried the Barnes Expanders w/MMP HPH12 sabots, Expanders w/Harvester smooth black sabots, Shockwaves w/ Harvester smooth black sabots. I have a few more combos to try but would like some input from anyone that might know what is causing the horizontal stringing.

Letting the barrel cool for 10-15 min might solve your problem. Never thought of that till I started shooting smokeless.it works the same way no matter the powder

After completely removing the scope and mounts and reinstalling them and another trip to the range I have decided it has to be my brand new Vortex Diamondback scope. No matter what I try it will hold vertically within an in but spreads the shots horizontally about 4-5 inches or so. Its VERY aggravating to shoot 2 and have them touch then the third be 4 inches left/right or shoot 3 and they all spread out evenly across the paper all touching the same horizontal line on the target! I called Vortex and they said to send it in and put rush on it and they would have it fixed and shipped back to me in 2 days after they receive it.

I had similar problems with the knight sabots I tried. They were a very tight fit in the bore. I tried Barnes 250 gr, TE-Z, and it shoots great. The T-EZ sabots load much easier.
